In multifamily construction, plumbing systems are a common source of occupant complaints. Domestic water supply lines and drain stacks generate turbulence during peak usage periods, producing plumbing noise transmission into adjacent units.
Untreated plumbing systems often produce interior levels of 60–68 dB(A) when toilets flush or showers operate.
