LARGE GATHERING
HALL NOISE

Flexible accordion and operable walls for effective space separation

Church fellowship halls are used for a wide variety of activities such as community dinners, youth meetings, group Bible studies, and social gatherings. During these events, conversations and group activities can generate sound levels between 70–80 dB(A). When several groups gather in the same hall, the noise from one activity can quickly spread throughout the entire space.

Large fellowship halls are typically designed with open layouts so they can accommodate large congregational events. However, this open design allows sound waves to travel freely across the room. When multiple groups are speaking at once, the overlapping conversations can create a loud environment where it becomes difficult for people to hear each other clearly.

Church leaders often need flexible ways to divide the fellowship hall into smaller meeting areas without building permanent walls. A solution that allows the hall to remain open for larger gatherings while still providing sound separation during smaller events is ideal.

Reduces noise in large gathering halls.

The FoldaSil® Acoustic Accordion Partition ANC-390 provides churches with church soundproof partitions that allow large spaces to be divided quickly when needed. These accordion folding partitions for churches function as noise-reducing accordion doors that reduce sound transfer between groups.

With properly installed accordion partitions with soundproofing, fellowship hall noise levels between groups can often be reduced from 75–80 dB(A) to approximately 55–60 dB(A). This improvement allows multiple church activities to occur simultaneously while maintaining comfortable sound levels.
