Overwiew

Ford Motor Company operates large-scale automotive
manufacturing facilities where precision automation, robotics,
and continuous production are critical to performance. Modern
automotive plants rely on centralized utility systems including
industrial compressors, mechanical pump room infrastructure,
and backup generator room installations to support assembly
lines, paint systems, stamping equipment, and plant-wide air
distribution.

Continuous mechanical equipment generates sustained
industrial noise that can affect communication, safety, and
workplace comfort. To enhance operational conditions without
interrupting production, Ford implemented a high-mass
acoustic metal enclosure system engineered by All Noise
Control.

CHALLENGE

Within the manufacturing facility, large compressors and
supporting mechanical systems produced elevated noise levels
similar to what is experienced in industrial pump room and
generator room environments. These systems operate
continuously to power automation and production equipment.
Key acoustic challenges included airborne noise from rotating
compressors, low-frequency vibration from mechanical
systems, and sound transmission into adjacent work zones.
Ford required a durable, modular enclosure solution capable of
delivering measurable noise reduction while maintaining
ventilation, service accessibility, and uninterrupted
manufacturing flow.

SOLUTION

All Noise Control engineered a custom steel acoustic enclosure
system designed specifically for Ford’s manufacturing

environment. The enclosure incorporated modular, double-
walled acoustic panels with high-mass septum construction to

provide both sound absorption and transmission loss.

Fabricated from high-quality steel for structural integrity and
corrosion resistance, the enclosure featured sealed industrial
access doors with compression latching, reinforced panel joints,
and an integrated acoustic ventilation system that maintained
airflow without compromising noise containment.

The floor-standing system was installed around high-noise
equipment including compressors and generator room
components. The modular configuration allowed seamless
integration into the plant’s existing layout while preserving
maintenance access and operational flexibility.

RESULTS

  • Significant reduction in compressor-generated airborne noise
  • Improved containment of generator room sound during
    operational cycles
  • Enhanced speech clarity and communication on the
    manufacturing floor
  • Lower ambient noise levels in adjacent production areas
  • Increased worker comfort and improved overall acoustic
    environment
  • Durable long-term solution aligned with Ford’s industrial
    performance standards
