Overwiew

Brightline Media Labs operates a contemporary digital
production workspace featuring open collaboration zones,
meeting rooms, and private studios. While the layout supports creative teamwork, the use of suspended ceilings created shared plenum spaces that allowed airborne sound to travel between rooms.To address overhead noise transfer without modifying architectural acoustic ceiling finishes, Brightline selected All Noise Control’s MassiCore® ANC-CB22 Acoustic Ceiling Barrier as part of a comprehensive acoustic ceiling design solution. This acoustic ceiling barrier was engineered specifically to control inter-room sound transmission while preserving the clean aesthetic of the existing suspended ceiling system.

 

CHALLENGE

The open office configuration and lightweight ceiling tiles
permitted cross-talk between collaboration areas and meeting rooms. Video conferences were impacted by background noise and ceiling plenum sound transmission. The existing suspended acoustic ceilings lacked sufficient mass to function as effective high STC ceiling panels. Brightline required ceiling sound barrier systems capable of blocking sound that is transferring from room to room while preserving architectural acoustic ceiling finishes
and maintaining easy access to lighting and HVAC components.

SOLUTION

All Noise Control installed MassiCore® ANC-CB22 Acoustic Ceiling Barrier above the suspended T-grid system across key production and collaboration areas. Each composite panel incorporates a 1 lb PSF mass loaded vinyl core layered between dual fiberglass sections, forming a high-density acoustic ceiling
barrier designed to increase transmission loss within the ceiling plenum. Unlike traditional acoustic panels that focus on reverberation control, this acoustic ceiling barrier system adds critical mass
above the ceiling plane to block airborne sound transfer between
spaces. Installed without demolition, panels were placed directly
above existing tiles, creating an efficient retrofit ceiling sound
barrier system that strengthened inter-room isolation while
maintaining access to mechanical systems.

This solution provided one of the most effective commercial
acoustic ceiling solutions for overhead sound separation without
altering architectural acoustic ceiling finishes or disrupting daily
operations.
