Engineered Acoustic Systems for
Professional Media Performance
at Orlando Studio Productions

Overwiew

Orlando Studio Productions operates a high-performance
recording and broadcast facility featuring multiple production
suites, editing rooms, and collaborative media spaces. The
building utilizes suspended acoustic ceilings throughout,
creating shared plenum spaces that allow airborne sound to
transfer between rooms.

As studio occupancy increased and simultaneous sessions
became more frequent, preventing sound transmission from
suite to suite became critical to maintaining professional
recording standards.

To improve inter-room sound isolation without modifying the
architectural ceiling finish, the studio partnered with All Noise
Control to install the MassiCore® Acoustic Ceiling Barrier System
ANC-CB22 ceiling barrier tile covers.

CHALLENGE

At Orlando Studio Productions, the shared ceiling plenum created a
pathway for airborne noise to transfer between recording suites,
editing rooms, and adjacent offices. Conversations, voiceover
sessions, and equipment noise were able to travel through the
lightweight ceiling assembly, compromising speech isolation and
recording clarity. As studio operations expanded and multiple
sessions occurred simultaneously, maintaining professional-grade
sound separation became increasingly difficult. The facility required a ceiling barrier system engineered specifically to block inter-room sound transmission, increase overall ceiling assembly STC
performance, and integrate into the existing T-grid system without
altering visible finishes or disrupting studio workflow.

SOLUTION

To address these issues, All Noise Control installed the
MassiCore® ANC-CB22 Acoustic Ceiling Barrier above the
existing suspended ceiling grid. Each composite panel
incorporates a 1” fiberglass layer, a 1 lb PSF mass loaded vinyl
core, and an additional 1” fiberglass layer, delivering a total
nominal thickness of 2 inches and a weight of 1.4 lb per square
foot. Installed in standard 2’ x 2’ and 2’ x 4’ formats, the barriers
were laid directly above the ceiling tiles to add high-density mass
within the plenum space.

Unlike conventional acoustic ceiling panels that focus on sound
absorption, the MassiCore® ANC-CB22 increases transmission
loss and improves STC performance by blocking airborne sound
from transferring between rooms. The installation provided a
discreet, non-invasive retrofit solution that maintained the
architectural ceiling appearance while significantly improving
speech isolation and overall recording integrity.

RESULTS

  • Reduced airborne sound transfer between recording suites
  • Improved voice isolation and production clarity
  • Lowered equipment noise bleed into adjacent rooms
  • Balanced reverberation within control environments
  • Fire-rated, ASTM-tested acoustic ceiling barrier installation
