Overwiew
The Pensacola Saenger Theatre is a historic performing arts
venue hosting concerts, theatrical performances, and
community events. While its high ceilings and ornate
architectural details create a stunning visual experience, these
same features contributed to excessive reverberation and
echo, affecting audience comprehension and performer
feedback.
To address these challenges while preserving the theatre’s
aesthetic, Pensacola Saenger Theatre partnered with All Noise
Control to install VibraCore® ANC-700 acoustical banners, a
professional solution engineered for large-scale reverberation
treatment in performance spaces where traditional ceiling
panels are impractical.
CHALLENGE
The theatre’s tall ceilings and reflective surfaces amplified
sound, causing overlapping echoes from music, applause, and
spoken dialogue. Audience members struggled to hear clearly,
and performers had difficulty gauging their onstage sound.
The solution required high-performance reverberation control,
compliance with Class A fire-rated standards, and installation
that maintained the historic character of the venue while
integrating safely with lighting and rigging systems.
SOLUTION
All Noise Control implemented VibraCore® ANC-700 acoustic
banners, designed to absorb sound energy and reduce
reverberation. The rectangular 2” thick panels (4’ x 2’) feature
3/4# fiberglass cores with PVC-perforated or nylon sailcloth
surfaces and heat-sealed edges for durability. Panels were
suspended using cables and grommets, allowing precise
placement above the stage, audience seating, and other
critical areas.
For areas with complex ceiling geometry, custom length,
draped, and catenary banners ensured complete acoustic
coverage while remaining visually unobtrusive. With an NRC of
1.0 and Class A incombustibility, the VibraCore® ANC-700
banners delivered maximum sound absorption and safe, code-
compliant performance.
