CEMEX, a leading building materials company, operates
cement plants, quarries, and high-capacity production facilities
in Florida. Crushers, mixers, conveyors, and HVAC systems
generate intense airborne and structure-borne noise that
impacted operational spaces, nearby offices, and compliance
with local noise regulations.
CEMEX required a heavy-duty, high-performance noise control
solution to reduce industrial and mechanical noise without
disrupting production. Traditional soundproofing methods
were inadequate for the high-noise environment, and space
constraints limited the use of thick or rigid panels.
CHALLENGE
CEMEX faced continuous high-decibel noise from crushers,
mixers, conveyors, generators, and HVAC systems, transferring
into operational and administrative areas. The solution needed
to fit within existing structures, reduce both airborne and
structure-borne noise, and comply with fire, safety, and
acoustic standards while allowing uninterrupted production.
SOLUTION
All Noise Control installed MassiCore® ANC-VB62 Mass Loaded
Vinyl (MLV), a 2-lb per square foot, 1/4′′ thick mass loaded vinyl
sound barrier engineered for high-noise commercial and
industrial applications. Its limp mass barrier construction
effectively reduced airborne noise and dampened vibration
from generators, mechanical equipment, and HVAC systems.
MassiCore® ANC-VB62 was installed behind drywall and within
walls inside the facility. Serving as both MLV acoustic barriers
and industrial sound barriers, this vinyl reduced noise transfer
across production areas and mechanical rooms. Its fire-rated,
lead-free construction ensured safe, long-lasting performance
in demanding industrial environments.
