A cold-rolled mezzanine is constructed using sheet metal bent into C-channel beams, which connect to tubular steel or tapered columns for structural support.
- Lightweight & Cost-Effective – Cold-rolled steel is significantly lighter than structural steel, reducing shipping costs and simplifying on-site installation with minimal heavy equipment required.
- Pre-Galvanized for Savings – Unlike structural steel, cold-rolled steel can be pre-galvanized, leading to lower costs compared to hot-dipped galvanized, stainless steel, or aluminum alternatives.
However, cold-rolled mezzanine systems have limitations:
- Restricted Column Spacing – Typically limited to 10’–15′ maximum.
- Lower Load Capacity – They cannot support high live loads or heavily concentrated point loads like structural steel mezzanines.
Despite these constraints, cold-rolled mezzanines provide a durable, budget-friendly solution, ideal for projects prioritizing weight reduction and cost efficiency.
