Microsoft’s innovation labs are multifunctional spaces used for prototyping, collaborative workshops, presentations, and multimedia demonstrations. High ceilings and reflective surfaces caused echoes and uneven acoustic conditions, impacting both creativity and productivity.
CHALLENGE
The labs required a solution that could address uneven acoustic performance, especially in areas with high ceilings and reflective surfaces. Excessive echo interfered with discussions and multimedia presentations, while any acoustic treatment needed to
integrate seamlessly with the lab’s modern and flexible interior design.
IMPLEMENTATION
All Noise Control designed custom acoustic baffles optimized for mid- and high-frequency absorption. The baffles were strategically positioned to address reflection hotspots and were finished with visually appealing materials to complement the lab interiors.

RESULTS
The baffles significantly improved speech intelligibility and reduced distracting echoes. Lab users reported better focus and collaboration, while presentations and multimedia sessions experienced clearer audio. The modular solution allowed for easy adjustments as lab layouts changed.
