Overwiew
PGT Industries, a leading manufacturer of impact-resistant
windows and doors in Florida, operates large production floors
with assembly lines, testing equipment, and mechanical
rooms. The continuous operation of high-output machinery,
compressors, and HVAC systems generated persistent airborne
and structure-borne noise that affected worker comfort,
productivity, and compliance with internal noise regulations.
PGT required a heavy-duty, high-performance soundproofing
solution to isolate mechanical rooms, ductwork, and
equipment enclosures without disrupting production
workflows. Traditional rigid panels and standard noise barriers
were bulky, difficult to retrofit, and offered limited acoustic
performance.
CHALLENGE
PGT faced continuous high-decibel noise from machinery,
generators, compressors, and HVAC systems, which
transferred into adjacent work areas, impacting employee
focus and operational efficiency. Limited space in mechanical
rooms and production areas prevented the use of thick or rigid
panels. The facility required a solution that could be retrofitted
without halting operations, while providing reliable long-term
noise control that met internal safety and acoustic standards.
SOLUTION
To address its industrial noise challenges, All Noise Control
used MassiCore® ANC-VB62 Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV), a high-
density, non-toxic, lead-free heavy vinyl sound barrier.
Weighing 2-lb per square foot and measuring 1/4′′ thick,
MassiCore® ANC-VB62 is a high mass sound barrier designed
for walls, floors, ceilings, and as a pipe or duct wrap. Its dense,
flexible construction acts as a limp mass barrier, reducing
airborne noise while dampening vibration from machinery,
compressors, generators, and HVAC systems.
MassiCore® ANC-VB62 was installed within wall, floor, and
ceiling assemblies, behind drywall, and wrapped around ducts,
pipes, and mechanical equipment enclosures to serve as MLV
sound barriers, vibration dampening barriers, and industrial
sound barriers. Its fire-rated, durable construction meets UL 94
HF-1, MVSS 302, and MIL-STD 6411 standards, ensuring long-
term performance in heavy-duty industrial environments.
