Merck’s R&D labs and meeting rooms struggled with sound reflections and disruptive background noise, limiting effective communication during critical discussions. The deployment of cloud ceiling soundproofing systems with ceiling-mounted
soundproofing panels provided targeted echo reduction and sound dampening ceiling panels, enhancing clarity for presentations and teleconferences while maintaining the sleek lab environment.
CHALLENGE
Merck’s research and development headquarters has both
high-tech labs and multifunctional meeting rooms. The
laboratories feature reflective surfaces, high ceilings, and
concrete floors, which caused sound reflections and prolonged reverberation. During lab meetings, teams struggled with background noise interfering with presentations, and confidential discussions were often disrupted by sound bounce.
SOLUTION
Merck installed All Noise Control ceiling clouds with ceiling- mounted soundproofing panels in all meeting rooms and collaboration spaces. Dual-sided acoustic absorption was optimized for key reflection points, while the suspended cloud soundproofing system allowed easy reconfiguration for different room layouts. Custom shapes and sizes were selected to match room aesthetics and provide unobtrusive echo reduction.
