Overwiew
Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. operates continuous chemical
processing lines with high-pressure piping, extensive HVAC
duct insulation, and mechanical systems that run 24/7. Noise
from airflow, fans, pumps, and piping combined with heat loss
from high-temperature lines posed challenges for worker
safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with OSHA
standards.
The facility required a solution capable of controlling both
vibration and airborne noise while enhancing thermal
performance, suitable for indoor and outdoor pipe wrap
applications in harsh chemical processing environments.
Reliability and long-term durability were critical to ensure
continuous operation without frequent maintenance.

CHALLENGE
Noise from both airborne and structure-borne sources—
originating from process piping, ductwork, and mechanical
equipment—created challenging and potentially hazardous
working conditions while threatening compliance with safety
and noise regulations. At the same time, heat loss from hot and
chilled pipes reduced energy efficiency, and condensation on
chilled water lines risked damaging insulation and
compromising the performance of mechanical systems.
SOLUTION
Â
All Noise Control installed the ANC-B10LAG Wrap Barrier across
HVAC ducts, process piping, pumps, and mechanical
enclosures, providing high-density acoustic control for superior
pipe and duct wrap performance.
The reinforced aluminum-faced mylar layer offers exceptional
resistance to chemicals, moisture, and heat, ensuring reliable
protection for both indoor and outdoor pipe wrap applications.
In addition to reducing noise, the B10LAG improves thermal
insulation, prevents condensation, and meets ASTM E84 Class 1
fire-rating standards. Its design allows for quick installation
over existing insulation using matching tape, enabling efficient
deployment with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
