AdventHealth Orlando is a major healthcare campus that
operates continuously, supporting patient care, imaging,
laboratories, and clinical services. Quiet mechanical systems
are essential to patient recovery, staff communication, and
compliance with stringent healthcare acoustic standards.
Hospitals contain extensive HVAC ductwork, chilled water
piping, and mechanical rooms that operate 24/7. Without
proper acoustic treatment, noise from these systems can
migrate into patient rooms, imaging suites, and sensitive
medical environments, impacting both comfort and care
outcomes.

CHALLENGE
Mechanical noise from HVAC ductwork, pumps, valves, and
piping created elevated background noise levels in patient
areas and clinical spaces. The hospital required a solution that
addressed both airborne and structure-borne noise while also
providing thermal insulation and condensation control. Fire
safety, durability, and minimal installation disruption were also
critical requirements.
SOLUTION
Â
All Noise Control applied ANC-B10LAG2 acoustic pipe lagging
to HVAC ductwork, mechanical piping, pumps, valves, and
duct transitions within mechanical rooms and service
corridors. The system’s two-inch quilted fibreglass pipe lagging
absorber effectively reduces vibration and structure-borne
noise, while the loaded vinyl noise barrier blocks airborne
sound transmission through ducts and pipes.
With a thermal R-value of 9, ANC-B10LAG2 delivers excellent
thermal pipe insulation, preventing condensation on chilled
water systems and improving energy efficiency across hot and
cold piping. The acoustical lagging is ASTM E84 Class 1 fire-
rated, moisture-resistant, and designed for fast wrapping over
existing systems, making it ideal for healthcare facilities that
cannot tolerate extended downtime.
