Overwiew
Valero Energy is one of the world’s largest independent
petroleum refiners, focusing on the critical middle segment of
the oil industry. As an independent refiner, Valero purchases
crude oil and processes it into essential fuels used every day,
including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol, and renewable
diesel.
To enhance operational performance and acoustic control
within its facility, Valero implemented a high-mass acoustic
metal enclosure system engineered by All Noise Control.

CHALLENGE
Fuel production environments involve high-capacity rotating
and mechanical equipment operating under demanding
conditions. Compressors used in refining processes, pump
room systems supporting fluid transfer, and generator room
equipment for backup power all contribute to elevated sound
levels within utility zones.
Similar to oil refinery noise challenges documented in heavy
industrial sectors, Valero required a solution capable of
delivering true sound isolation — not simply surface-level noise
shielding. The enclosure system needed to be durable,
weather-resistant, and suitable for refinery environments
exposed to UV, moisture, and variable weather conditions.
SOLUTION

All Noise Control designed and installed a modular, high-mass
acoustic metal enclosure system tailored specifically to Valero
Energy’s refining operations. The enclosure was engineered
using double-walled steel acoustic panels combined with
high-mass septum internal barrier construction to deliver both
sound absorption and transmission loss performance suitable
for refinery environments.
Fabricated from corrosion-resistant steel and reinforced with
durable structural steel framing, the enclosure provides long-
term integrity under demanding industrial conditions. Its
weatherproof exterior makes it suitable for outdoor refinery
installation, ensuring protection against wind loading, UV
exposure, moisture, and other harsh environmental factors
common in petroleum processing facilities.
Installed as a floor-standing structure on a reinforced concrete
pad within the refinery utility area, the enclosure was designed
to withstand long-term industrial use while preserving the
performance and reliability of Valero’s critical fuel production
equipment.
